Thin and fragrant handmade sheets made from flour and water. The flavor is enhanced with extra virgin olive oil and rosemary. A sprinkle of salt completes their characteristic crunchiness. A simple and genuine snack, perfect to accompany any aperitif
Clean the rosemary, keep only the needles, and chop it very finely
2
Knead the flour with salt, water, olive oil, and a bit of chopped rosemary
3
Form a dough ball and let it rest for 30 minutes covered with plastic wrap
4
Divide the dough into portions of 40–45 grams and roll them out very thin, about 1 millimeter
5
Place the mother-in-law's tongues on a baking tray and brush them with a bit of olive oil
6
Bake on the middle rack of the oven in static mode at 250 degrees for about 3–4 minutes
Tip:
You will need multiple batches; if you have two trays, you can prepare one while the other is baking
Cost
This preparation is based on simple pantry staples. The only slightly higher cost comes from the extra virgin olive oil
Health
Mother-in-law's tongues are a simple and crunchy snack but low in fiber due to the use of refined flour. The calorie intake is moderate and mainly comes from complex carbohydrates and healthy fats from olive oil
