Fried cod with onions

Fried cod with onions
I still remember when I tasted it in San Francisco at the famous Pier 39. A dish that perhaps couldn't be simpler, but just a few onion rings and a sprinkle of paprika to make it special

Directions

It takes 6 steps in 35 min
1 - Clean the cod fillets, being careful to remove all the bones. Cut them into strips of about 3 centimeters on each side and set them aside to dry
2 - Peel the onions, wash them, and cut them into sections of about one centimeter, then set aside
3 - Prepare the batter by mixing water, flour, salt, and paprika
Tip: The batter can be more or less thick, choose according to your preferences, but remember that the thicker it is, the more oil it will absorb, making the fried food heavier
4 - Place a tall, narrow saucepan on the heat with peanut oil and bring it to temperature
5 - Fry the onions and the fish after dipping them in the batter. Let them cook until they have acquired a nice golden color
6 - Serve with a sprinkle of paprika and half a lemon

Cost

Codfish, especially the carbonara one, is really affordable. Each portion costs around three euros

Health

There's not much to say; it's all fried, so it's best to go easy on the portions
